Laba is an experienced academic and consultant specializing in applied linguistics, ELT, education, and tourism. He serves as a Professor at Dhyana Pura University, Bali, where he contributes to the advancement of applied linguistics, English studies, ELT, tourism, business communication, and research methodology. His scholarly work has been recognized through competitive research grants, textbook development awards, and publication grants for reputable international journals from Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, underscoring his commitment to educational innovation. Laba completed scholarship-funded studies at Sprachacademie (Germany), Udayana University (Indonesia), Jade University of Applied Sciences (Germany), and received the Certified Hospitality Educator (CHE) Certificate from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. He is a guest lecturer at Jade University of Applied Sciences (Germany) and VIT (India). He is an external Ph.D. examiner at Udayana University and the School of Social Sciences and Languages, VIT, India. These appointments reflect his expertise in higher education quality assurance and international collaboration. Laba has also delivered lectures, conferences, and workshops in various universities and institutions. He has presented at Waseda University (Japan) and Universität Hamburg (Germany), and served as a guest teacher at Berufsbildende Schule 11, Hanover Germany. His international training includes International Marketing Management at Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences (Finland) and the Global Leaders Course at the University of Oregon (USA). Laba has also taught BIPA in Western Australia, enhancing his cross-cultural competence and ability to integrate global best practices into education and consultancy. As an active member of the Linguistics Society of Indonesia (MLI), the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), and Head of the Indonesian Scientific Publication Forum (FUBLIN), Laba contributes to advancing applied linguistics and tourism as well as promotes academic collaboration and the dissemination of scholarly research. Laba gained valuable experience across multiple industries, serving as a property sales supervisor, infrastructure manager, hotelier, waiter, tour guide, school teacher, and HR Development Manager. This diverse professional background continues to enhance his academic and consulting work, especially in intercultural communication, tourism, and professional development. Throughout his career, Laba has held several leadership and managerial positions that combine academic excellence with administrative leadership. His roles include Head of the Language Laboratory, Academic Coordinator, Director of Administration and General Affairs, Head of International Cooperation and Marketing Department, LSP Certification Manager, Head of Higher Education Quality Assurance, and Journal Editor-in-Chief. These experiences demonstrate his commitment to institutional quality, innovation and effective education management. Since 2016, Laba has been actively involved as a consultant with education-focused organizations. From 2022 to 2024, he served as Lead Consultant at the Education Quality Assurance Agency (BPMP) of Bali Province and continues to work as a freelance Lead Consultant at LATIFABA Group (www.latifaba.com), supporting projects in education management, HR development, quality assurance, and tourism. Laba also holds several national professional certifications, including National Consultant (Reg. No. 2012220031568), National Assessor (Reg. No. 91510830520195117203), Reviewer and Auditor Certification, reflecting his credibility and commitment to quality assurance in education, research, organizational and institutional development. Laba’s expertise in applied linguistics, English studies, ELT, and tourism combined with his background in leadership and industry, enables him to examine how language shapes global communication, intercultural understanding, and professional identity. Laba's interdisciplinary perspective enhances his contributions and positioning him as a prominent figure in integrating communication strategies with global education and tourism management. With a strong academic foundation and extensive professional experience, Laba is frequently invited by universities, private corporations, and government agencies to serve as a trainer and consultant in professional development, education, tourism, quality assurance, research, and academic writing. Beyond academia and consultancy, Laba is an active researcher and author, publishing books and peer-reviewed journal articles in national and international outlets.
